Every 3rd Sunday of
the month of November is a day set aside for World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. This year is not an
exception and would be held on the 16th of November 2014.

Children are regarded as
vulnerable road users and as such need to be protected at all times. We should
not forget our girls that were kidnapped by Boko Haram. Maybe, if they had some
level of security education they may have been saved.
Road Safety Tips for Children
is a book that has been approved for use in Primary and Junior Secondary School
levels by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council
(NERDC),Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria as a tool for the teaching of both safety and
security education to our Children in Basic Education. It is so disheartening
that funds has been a hindrance to getting these books to our Children from our
research. At least less than 10% of Children in Nigeria do not have access to
this book which can go a long way in ensuring our Children Safety.
As an organization we are using
this medium to solicit for donations for the procurement of this book that will
be given free of charge to our Children for their safety and security. Our
intention is to give out these books during the World Day of Remembrance of Road Traffic Victims and beyond.
Children are victims of Road
Traffic Crashes (RTCs) directly or indirectly. They suffer when their parents
are involved in Crashes and also when they are killed in such crashes. It is
very important that they have information that will guarantee their safety on
and off the roads.
We are calling on well meaning
Nigerians, Road Safety Friends, Organisations, Politicians, Legislators in our
Local, State and National Houses of Assembly to donate to this worthy cause and
get these books for children all over Nigeria as well as their constituencies.
For our Legislators in the
Local, State and National Houses of Assembly, this is an opportunity to ensure
Children in your constituencies are safe and secured and thus performing your
civic responsibility as protectors of our Children.
The cost of the book is N500($3)
and it will surprise you that it has been difficult for some parents to procure
this book for their children. You can donate 1, 5, 10,50,100,1000, etc,and we
will ensure that these books get to the children and for everyone who donates
to this cause your name/organization will be inscribed on each book that you
donate.
Our Target is 1million Nigerian
Children in the first instance until we get to all the Children in Basic
Education in Nigeria. Let us not wait for the government but rather be a
supporter of Children’s Safety.
Let us show patriotism at this
time and ensure our Children are no longer exposed to risk on our roads and
insecurity in our Country.
