Pistorius Faces Culpable Homicide After Cleared on Murder Charge 

Oscar Pistorius escaped a murder conviction in the trial for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp while he still faces a charge of culpable homicide by reason of negligence.
Judge Thokozile Masipa resumes delivering her judgment tomorrow after the 41-day trial at the High Court in Pretoria, South Africa’s capital. Before adjourning, she said Pistorius was “negligent” when he shot Steenkamp through a bathroom door at his home on Valentine’s Day last year. Rather than arm himself to deal with what he thought was an intruder, Pistorius could have called the police or yelled for help, she said.
“He failed to take any step to avoid the resultant death,” Masipa said. “I am of the view that the accused acted too hastily and used excessive force.
